Claims Reporting Procedures


You may file the claim directly with the insurance company pursuant to the contract
information contained in your policy or claims packet,

OR

You may submit an Acord loss report form and any attachments to our claims department

by fax: 814-255-6010 to the attention of CLAIMS
or
by e-mail: claims@interstate-insurance.com
To ensure prompt, efficient claim adjusting, please remember the following:

  • Be sure the policy number is correct and include the full name of the policyholder.


  • Advise of the exact location of the loss and provide a detailed description of the occurrence, giving as much information as possible.


  • Provide the actual date of loss. If the actual date of loss is unknown, provide the date the loss was discovered.


  • Provide all phone numbers where the policyholder and claimant can be contacted, including temporary phone numbers.


  • Be sure to include the name of a contact person at the insured's location.


  • Forward any receipts, photographs, invoices or other documentation of the loss along with the claim.


  • Advise the policyholder to take measures to protect his property after the loss. Keep all emergency repair receipts.


  • If the police investigated the loss, obtain the incident number and contact telephone number of the police department.


  • Inquire if there are any witnesses and obtain their contact information, including addresses and telephone numbers.


  • For commercial auto losses, obtain the location of the damaged unit, along with a phone number of that location, if possible.
