Interstate Insurance Management, Inc. is a Managing General Agency/Brokerage facility
writing commercial property, casualty and transportation related lines on a wholesale basis through independent insurance agents.
Interstate was founded in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1970 by Jack
Buchan, Sr. From the beginning, we have operated as a 100% wholesale brokerage/MGA
facility. We are a family owned and operated Pennsylvania domiciled agency
- not a branch office of a national broker. Today, we represent many commercial
carriers and offer our specialty insurance programs and services to independent
agents in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Delaware.
Time is important to you. We understand this and know that our business
depends on your submissions. Our experienced, knowledgeable professional
staff will do whatever it takes to process your submissions quickly and
professionally. We want to help you write business.
Our founder had the philosophy that good service, a friendly attitude and
stable markets will attract good business and good brokers. He was right.

What we do

We operate as a commercial insurance wholesaler - MGA - program manager for many
different admitted and non-admitted insurance carriers in Pennsylvania,
Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana and Delaware. As the leading writer of small
accounts, we provide a qualified agent with access to six A and A+ Best
Rated and Truck insurance markets for all lines of trucking coverages.
We also have great markets for business auto and public auto. Our Property
and Casualty department represents the leading E & S and Specialty carriers
for all lines of G.L., property, inland marine, garage, umbrella and excess
coverages. We are also the sole MGA for American Mining Insurance Company
which provides workers comp, pollution and auto coverages for mines,
quarries and related businesses in PA.
Our sister company Mountain Top Premium Finance, Co., can provide competitive
financing for most smaller P & C accounts.
